Question Hi my name is Brittney. I am entering my senior year in high school this year. After high school, I plan on attending college for pharmacy. This summer I am taking a class called Career Exploration at Suny Brockport and one of our assignments is to contact people who work or know about the career field that we are interested in. I have a couple questions that you may be able to answer for me. I am wondering what classes are needed to be taken in college? What major information that I may need to know? About how much are the college expenses? Are there any other recommendations that you may have for me. I hope to hear from you soon so that I can continue exploring the pharmacy field. Thank you for your time.
Sincerely,
Brittney
Answer Hi Brittney,
Only high school and you already have a plan,,, sounds like a pharmacist!
I would say that its a good career if you happen to be interested in chemistry and math. It also helps to be good at chemistry and math! Its lower on the grossness scale compared to other medical jobs, the pay is good, job security looks great, benefits.
Pharmacists are pretty sharp people, its good to be able to concentrate for long periods of time, be detail oriented and task oriented, also knowing your stuff.
I think the average schooling is 5 years.
And it is expensive.
If you haven't already looked at the statistics of the dept of labor, very useful information and it applies to all!
