Pharmacy - inflammation on lip

Expert: Layla Yeganeh - 7/11/2007

Question
Hello:
Meybe itīs not exactly your speciality in a certain way, but I will try you to help me anyway. I woke up with my inferior lip inflame. Looking at the interior part of it, I can see that there is likely to be pus, because of the color in the surface.
I donīt know if a regular anti-inflammation pill will do, since it does not seem to be so serious. I never this problem before.
Thanks
Felipe

Answer
Hi Felipe,

It is best not to self diagnose, in this case.
Really we could speculate all day, as to what could be in your mouth wether it be infection, irritation, trauma etc.

Go see a family doctor, or urgent care clinic, have a medical professional physically examine it, and explain your symptoms to them.

If you are not that concerned with getting it checked out, and it is not causing you that many problems, you can simply wait and see, if it will go away on its own. If it turns out to be a canker sore, then gargling with Listerine can help. But that is just speculation.

Take care not to further irritate the area in the meantime.

Layla
