Question
okay so i have these really bad pains in my sides and i have been urinating very frequently...i used a pregnancy test and it was negative...a friend from my work told me it was probably a kidney infection...will cephalexin take care of that or do i need something...because i dont have money to go to the doctors and i have a prescription for it from when my wisdom teeth were coming in...so my question is...if this is a kidney infection will Cephalexin clear it up?

Answer
Cipro or levaquin, are good for complicated UTIs.
For a less complicated bladder infection Bactrim is used.

levaquin 500mgx7 days, or Cipro 500mgX 5 days.

You shouild protect yourself against std's, and always urinate after sex.

Also I strongly recommend that you go out and buy a cranberry supplement at CVS, or the grocery store, in pill form. The acid, in the cranberry increases the pH and inhibits bacterial growth in the bladder. I recommend taking those on a regualr basis.
Also drink plenty of water, and do not consume alcohol. If you are on any medications tell your doctor about them.

Thanks.
