Pharmacy - metronidazole and alcohol

Expert: Barbara Judge - 7/10/2007

Question
I've been off metronidazole for 48 hours now I was wondering if I could consume alcohol and if I did how long before I would feel the side effects?

Answer
If you have been off metronidazole for 48 hours you should be able to consume alcohol without side effects.  If this reaction were to occur during metronidazole therapy it would usually occur within 30 to 60 minutes of ingesting alcohol.

Thanks
