Question Can an estradiol patch be cut in half ? Will it deliver the half dose, (e.g.0.1mg cut .5mg)
Answer No, estradiol patches can not be cut in half to deliver half the dose of medication. When you cut the patches you destroy the drug delivery system which controls the release of the medication, allowing too much medication to be release along the cut edge. Under no circumstances should the patches be cut before use.
