Question
Sir,

My mother is patient of IHD HBP. She takes Isosorbide Mononitrate 20 mg twice daily. Is there any significant difference in Isosorbide Mononitrate 40 and 60 ? Reason is one tablet IMDUR 60 is aailable once daily dose by Astra Zeneca.

Answer
Dear Asis

I would recommend that you mother take the Imdur 60 at one a day. This is more convenient than the 20mg twice per day. The extra 20 mg taken will do no harm and probably good. This is the usual recommended dose for isorbide but will need to be OKed by her prescriber. Imdur 60 is slow release so the drug is released slowly into the system for a prolonged period.
