You need to wean off Effexor (venlafaxine); you will experience some nasty side-effects if you just stop it! Some side-effects you will experience if you abruptly stop this are Headache,electric-shock like sensations,irritability,and a return of depression if you are not switching to another medication. Please let your doctor know if you are thinking about taking yourself off this medication. Hope this helps, Mary
