Pharmacy - trimspa/benadryl

Expert: Layla Yeganeh - 7/27/2007

Question
Is it safe to take trimspa and benadryl around the same time?

Answer
Trimspa is an herbal supplement, considered a food. It is therefor not regulated under the FDA. It is hard to know the effects of mixed herbals such as Trimspa, since supplements are not regulated and studied extensively like drugs are. Also it is difficult to know what you are getting, what is listed on the label because the products are not regulated.

I would refrain from taking benadryl and the trimspa at the same time. Take within at least 3 hours of eachother, just to be safe.
There could potentially be some interactions.
We just don't know with herbals.

Take care.
