AboutBill and Lorna Collings Expertise Feel FREE to ask us about traveling, living, relocating, retiring and investing in the Philippines. Guests from 83 countries make our place in Manila an incredible meeting place for world travelers who exchange travel stories and information. We understand both the joys and the hardships of living and traveling in the Philippines.
Experience I arrived in the Philippines in January 1980 to travel for 2 months; I stayed 4 months before reluctantly leaving. I met my Filipina wife, Lorna. an incredible stellar, "one in a million" individual in 1983 in Seoul and we moved to the Philippines in 1986 and opened our 3BR house to world travelers on a budget. After welcoming thousands of guests from 83 nations our place has grown to 30 bedrooms but will never lose its "Home away from Home" atmosphere. Almost everyday at The Townhouse Hotel there's a party-like social scene with vibrant, almost magical energetic conversations between our guests who have the pleasure to meet each other and share their life's many experiences. Sometimes. three groups with conversations in different langauges are going on at the same time.
So we've been exposed to every kind of person from all over the world and shared their experiences.

Question Hi,Bill ,Lorna ,my wife has a unfurnished house in Rodriguez Rizal,do you know of reasonably priced places there to buy br,lr and kitchen furn, and small appliances.we will be there in July, what my health concerns are getting hep.and parasites, hope i don't sound to paranoid..any answers are appreciated..thank you Harry
Answer Harry No Worries, Rizal is located on the outskirts of Metro-Manila and their many place to buy furniture at local prices. The telephone book's yellow pages are a great place to start and being in English makes it SO EASY for us foreigners to find various suppliers of WHATEVER we need to buy. Abensons Appliances & Hoem Furnishings is one, SM Dept Store is another, Blim's Fine Furniture and Home Furniture Plus ( Cainta, Rizal Tel. 681-1481 to 83 ) and there is likely a local area in Rizal where there are woodshops etc which are NOT included in the yellow pages.
No Worries about ANY of the negative health concerns you have for whatever reason about living in the Philippines. As Americans we grow up with our own forms of brainwashing about the danger and hassles of living in "third world" countries like the Philippines. But I for one THANK GOD for such countries and would NEVER want to grow old in America. But as I say different strokes for different folks so maybe you need to relax, have faith in living a simple, LONG HEALTHY life here in the islands. I ABSOLUTELY LOVE THE PHILIPPINES!
