About Hank Hokamp
Expertise
Books, books and more book! Personal experiences can sometimes disprove philosophical discussions and writings. My PHILOSOPHY: If you do wrong to people, you don't have the right to exist. Helping people is WHY we're here. At least it's my purpose of life. Why do people keep seeking humanism, nihilism and existentialism? Few seem to realize satisfaction. All humans are subject to death and Earth has not been cultivated into an earth-wide paradise. Perhaps it can be if we serve one another. I can't imagine a more satisfying life than using my free will to serve thy neighbor. Let's get started. It's 2009! In fact, it's 3/24/09!

Question

Hello Hank Hokamp. How you doing. My name is Tittim. By looking at you description at the all experts you seem like you really are willing to help and I am glad to notice that quality in somebody. You are right earth has not been cultivated into a earth wide paradise and it makes sense the way you put it. Anyway my question to you is more or less related to philosophy I hope but looking at your description I just wanted to ask it to you. Here goes, we all know that there have been lots of major discoveries in the past and they became renowned after a while or immediately. I would like to put this concisely. What do you think or feel someone should do if one has made a huge discovery, a discovery so big that would unravel mysteries that had never been solved before. A true discovery related to lets say the human civilization, something that would change things forever. A discovery with such importance and coherence. But the only main conventional difference would be that the discovery would have been made by a single individual rather than as usual a group of scientists/researchers. But that is a major drawback indeed and even more importantly if the fate of the world literally depended on it. It is not hard to imagine that the individual would have trouble getting through to the scientists or authorities in the government because of perhaps their lack of faith and unbelief that such could be possible by a mere individual or may be even because of issues such as jealousy or envy may be. What do you think that such an individual has to do in order to make this world aware of such discovery? How could that individual persuade the authorities of the world to acknowledge and take action regarding such important discovery? Your help or opinion would be much appreciated. I hope this question would not be of much difficulty to answer, if in any case it proves to be too difficult to answer, then you don’t really have to bother. Thanks for reading anyway.

Answer
WOW! What an epistle, Shawn. I read every word and here's what I came up with. I'm treating your DISCOVERY as an INVENTION:

Thus the creation of an invention and its use can be effected by practical considerations. Some inventions are not created in the order that enables them to be most useful. For example, the parachute was invented before powered flight. There are inventions that are too expensive to produce and inventions that require scientific advancements that have not yet occurred. These barriers can erode or disappear as the economic situation changes or as science develops.

History shows that turning an invention that is only an idea into REALITY can take any amount of time, even centuries as demonstrated by inventions originally conceived by Leonardo da Vinci which are now in physical form and commonplace in our lives. Interestingly, some invention that exists as only an idea and has never been made in reality can obtain PATENT protection. Thus, writing a paper about your INVENTION that you can PATENT would suffice and give you all the publicity that God gave a goose.

Do you want to know the philosophy of an undisclosed DISCOVERY, i.e. INVENTION?
