Philosophy - Free Will vs. Existance of God

Expert: Ajay Verma - 4/16/2009

Question
Free will or existance of God... Which argument is the most compelling and why do you think so?

Answer
Hi Natalya
Thanks for the question. Though philosophy of religion is not one of my areas. But probably I could ask your question by telling you a story. Natalya once asked this question to a sufi master. Sufi master asked her to stand on one leg. Natalya stood up lifted up her left leg instead of right because she was a right handed person so naturally she had a choice. Then the sufi master said, "Now lift up your other leg also. Natalya said, "how is that possible?". So you understand my point. It is a mix of both. We have choices we curtail them as we choose. So it is a mixture of both Free will and the existence of God.
I am sure you would not find it to be the best of answers you might have been looking for but this is the best one I have.
Best,
Ajay
