Question Hello!
Berkeley proposed that what we perceived is in our mind.
However, since perception based on the mind rather than the external world, what we see might vary from person to person. If that is the case, how can scientist 'see' the same thing?
Thanks a lot for your help
Answer Yes, the only perceptions we have are of ideas, not physical objects. We don't have chairs or books in our heads, only the ideas present before our mind.
To get around the solipsism created by this position, i.e., the only thing we can know is what is directly in our minds, namely our own mind, Berkeley acknowledges that we do have communication with others. And ultimately, it is via communication that we can achieve objective knowledge of the external world.
