Subject: Starting out
Question Hi Barrie,
I've taken a few film and photography classes so I am very familiar f/stop measurements/depth of field and so on, in terms of theory. But I would like to get started working on my own.
I've been saving up money to buy a new camera but I'm not sure what would be a good buy.
I would was wondering if you would be able to recommend anything in terms of what brands are good and what price ranges I could be looking at.
Or perhaps you coul dpoint me in the right direction.
Thanks a million for your time.
Answer Hi Joe,
Sorry for the delay. Not too easy to answer your question really as you have given no indication of how much you have to spend. Canon and Nikon cameras can range from £150 to £4,500 so it will rest on what you have. If you are just starting out you should keep to a modest camera but with as many functions like manual focus and manual exposure so that you have control over the camera. At this stage I can't offer more advice.
Barrie
