About Steve Pearson
Expertise
Try me for 35mm or darkroom issues. I am a professional photographer in Australia. I work solely in 35mm digital format, after 35 years of colour and monochrome film in many formats. I have darkroom experience and for many years belonged to my local camera club. I conduct photography workshops around the state on any and most subjects relating to photography and often judge photography exhibitions and competitions.

Experience
I hold a Diploma of Applied Science in Forensic Investigation, with part of my studies involving photography. I spend most days with a camera and am into digital photography in a big way. I was given my first camera in 1965 and have not been without one since. I spent nearly 20 years as a forensic investigator with my state Police Force, and since retiring a couple of years ago have concentrated on commercial photography - especially weddings.

Subject: Best Outdooor Canon Lens under $2000

Question
I am starting serious photo. and bought a Canon 5D.  I love outdoor photo the best, even with people in the shots.  What is the best lens I can buy for under $1800 for this purpose, and maybe portaits, weddings etc.  I want the quality I read about in the primes.  Maybe I can affor 2 lenes this year.

Answer
Hi Michael.
Serious photography and 5D belong together. That's one hell of a nice camera. Next on my wish list.
As for lenses - it's horses for courses. The 'L' series lenses are best and coupled with IS (image stabiliser) are the absolute tops.
I'd love to recommend a lens to you but that would be like telling you what car you should drive.

Don't rush into it, especially with such a magnificent camera. Can I suggest that you get on to this web site, join up, and ask a lot of questions.  I've been a member for a couple of years and get a lot out of it.

Best of luck with it all.
