Question Hello, i have been taking pictures for about 4 years already with my good Nikon N80 but I think it is time to go digital... I was thinking buying the Nikon D80 but my main issue is if the lenses i got will fit in this new camera, I got the AF-S Zoom-Nikkor 28-70mm f/2.8D IF-ED (2.5x) and also the AF-S VR Zoom-Nikkor 70-200mm f/2.8G IF-ED (2.9x), what do you think ? What do you think about the d200 ? does it differe to much from the d80 ?
Thanks
Answer Vincio,
Your lenses will work fine on all Nikon cameras from the D80 and up. They will not work properly on Nikon's lower end cameras like the D60, etc.
I happen to own a D200 myself. What you are paying for are Speed, construction and backwards compatibility. The D80 will work with lenses back to 1986. The D200 (and above) will work with lenses back to 1977. The 200 is faster and built more soundly. It is also weather resistance. The D80 and D200 have the same sensor and will give the same image quality. This may not seem obvious at first because the D80 will look better out of the box. It's image parameters are set at different defaults. You may want to consider the D300 as well. It has a new sensor and software (AD Converter) that give it a better signal to noise profile. (less grain at higher ISO's) You won't go wrong with any of the cameras we've talked about here. You've got some of Nikon's best lenses and that is the most important thing.

PS I just noticed that your 70-200 is an AFS. That means that it WILL work on lower end cameras like the D60.
