Answer Hi Simone,
1. No qualifications necessary but some formal training is always an advantage.
2. In England, where I am, jobs are scarce. Students leaving college all the time. So many different aspects to the photography industry it is difficult to evaluate.
3. The salary can be low to start as you would be an assistant. However, if you started your own business, the world is your oyster. The people you deal with can range for Art directors, fashion consultants, advertising execs, to the general public.
4. If you start as an assistant you need not necessarily have your own equipment. Starting out on your own can cost a few hundred £ or $ but you will need reliable equipment and that can run to many thousands.
5. Imagination, initiative, a good eye, dedication.
6. My opinion on professional photography, from those I have met over the years is that it is a friendly but very competitive business.
7. I am not sure I know enough about all the specialists to give an accurate answer. The best one for you is what you enjoy and are passionate about.
8. If you love photography and can produce innovative work, yes.
9. Work hard, never believe that you have stopped learning and always open your mind to crazy ideas. Above all, believe in yourself.
I wish you luck.
Regards
Barrie
