Question
What are some tips for taking great photo's using the Cannon IXUS 950 IS, any settings that you would reccommend, please share so I can best utilise how to get the best out of this.

I'm not really familiar with your camera (Cannon IXUS 950 IS) So I couldn't really give you any particular advice.

But I can tell you that the owners manuals that come with these are fairly comprehensive.

Take the time to read and understand it. A guy named Scott Kelby has written a book called The "Digital Photography Book" that is pretty cool I would suggest that as well.
