About Martin Seymour
Expertise
I have worked in most aspects of still photography, using film and the wet process for 50 years. Employing all film formats 35mm to 8x10 sizes, I went over partly to digital cameras in 02, also PC editing of pictures. I still find film work more demanding , as you have to get it right at the start with no auto settings on the camera to cover my mistakes. Pictorial work is my personal interest. Its is not a good idea for me to suggest a particular make of equipment just a type, and its uses.

Photography - Where to sell old Norwood Director light meter ?

Expert: Martin Seymour - 9/8/2009

Question
Mr. Seymour,
My father was an amateur photographer for over 60 years before he passed away. Recently I found an hand held old light meter that he used to swear by.
It is a Norwood Director Model D by Brockway Director Corp. in NH.
It is in it's original box with the original leather protective case.
From all that I can tell, it is in very good condition.
Can you recommend where I might begin to research it's value for resale on the collector's market?
Thank you very much for your time.
Respectfully,
John Burgess

Answer
HI JOHN.
OK -WELL you can scan E-bay for similar items and see what they sell for, and make a judgment / comparison then.
Also look for collectors on the web and contact them have you tried typing in the search --the name of the meter. Or just type in --photographic light meters
Does it have a battery in it have you checked? I doubt it but if it has it may be a bit corroded so may need cleaning up! Or at worst damaged.
Lastly what about museums in you state or anyware.
Good luck.
Martin
