AboutMikael Barnard Expertise I have much experience in photographing events and my most specialist area
of knowledge is alternative photographic processes. I may well answer
questions on broader topics of photography but only if my sphere of
knowledge extends to the question in hand. Please feel free to ask away
though!
Experience I have both a GCSE and an A-level in photography and much experience with event photography, I now persue photography as a hobby.
Education/Credentials GCSE photography- B. A.S. Level- C. A-Level- D- nothing wrong with my work, seems the exam board are pretty narrow minded when it comes to alternative photographic processes :-(
Question I'm still in highschool but I think I might want to be a photograher.
What advice do you offer to young people who are considering a career in the field?
Answer Hello Jessica.
Not being a professional photographer myself in the true sense of the definition I might not be the best person to advise you. However, I will say that it is a very difficult profession to succeed in (aren't they all)and it requires a good deal of luck. Also it is rarely a steady employment and, as with acting, one is always looking around for the next job but it can pay well depending on who employs you and there is HUGE scope for job satisfaction. My advise would be to certainly consider it as a job but have another skill up your sleve to fall back on. My very best wishes in whatever you decide to do, good luck.
