Question
Hi. I've had an antique camera in my cupboard for years which I bought at a jumble sale. It appears to be German but I'm not sure. The only markings are EXA Jhagee Dresden on the front. Jhagee again on the back and printed on the bottom "USSR occupied". I have searched the net but I am finding it hard as it has no serial number or name can you help? Have you heard of this make before or know of any websites which specialise in this make? I would really appreciate your help as I hope to take picture with it for our school yearbook here in Scotland. Thanks:)

Answer
It is an Exa made by Ihagee, who also made Exakta cameras.
There are over 25 models of Exa cameras. The USSR Occupied indicates the time period that it was made.

Go to eBay.com and search for Exa and you will be able to see some Exa cameras.

Here are a few links about Exa:

http://www.exakta.org/exsteng2b.html

Do a search for " exa ihagee " and you will find many links.
