About Martin Seymour
Expertise
I have worked in most aspects of still photography, using film and the wet process for 50 years. Employing all film formats 35mm to 8x10 sizes, I went over partly to digital cameras in 02, also PC editing of pictures. I still find film work more demanding , as you have to get it right at the start with no auto settings on the camera to cover my mistakes. Pictorial work is my personal interest. Its is not a good idea for me to suggest a particular make of equipment just a type, and its uses.

Question
Mr,Seymour,Sir,Thank-you for your time in this forum.I am 55 years old and have wanted to start this hobby full time when I retire(if that's ever possible!)Would like to take pictures as Ansel Adams did.I would like to build a bellows camera but have no knowledge of what film negatives are available, although knowing that larger is better,I think.
Are there box bellow camera kits available and is film readily available for them? Thanks again for your expertise,Don Lauer

Hi don
It sounds as though you are really starting from scratch both in the hands on side in making a camera and also on the photographic side.
At first you should say to yours self-do I have the hands on skills --------carpentry etc.
As I can see that careful work with wood and metal are going to be necessary.
It should not be too difficult, I would recommend that you should start by doing some more www surfing and look for an old camera to copy!!!
KEY words to type in your search------- Ansel Adams, museums photo, large format cameras etc.
Also look round any appropriate museums for ideas!!!!.
When you are ready write again and tell me what you have found, and then we can discuss the photo side of this large project!!
55 YOU'RE A MEAR BOY!
Good luck.
