About Martin Seymour
Expertise
I have worked in most aspects of still photography, using film and the wet process for 50 years. Employing all film formats 35mm to 8x10 sizes, I went over partly to digital cameras in 02, also PC editing of pictures. I still find film work more demanding , as you have to get it right at the start with no auto settings on the camera to cover my mistakes. Pictorial work is my personal interest. Its is not a good idea for me to suggest a particular make of equipment just a type, and its uses.

Question
Hello Martin
Do any camcorders exist possibly allowing one to make movies and then extract individual photographs, negatives, or prints from the movie film itself, thus saving having to buy a separate regular camera?
I would like a camcorder to archive family & special events, but desire periodically to take a snapshot of myself or someone in a humorous setting, act, or costume. I might be asking for too much. Just curious. Also, if this type of camcorder exists, could one order it with a zoom lens or add one on later?

Thank you very much.

Answer
HI MIKE

I HAVE NEVER TRIED IT MY SELF BUT I BELEAVE THAT USING A DIGITAL CAMCORDER YOU CAN TAKE STILL SHOTS AS WELL THUS MAKING WHAT YOU ARE AFTER !!
AND INDEED SOME DIGITAL STILL STILL CAMERAS WILL SHOOT  SHORT BUSTS OF MOVIE  .
BEST WAY TO FIND OUT IS GO THROUGH SOME MAGAZINE S IN THE NEWS AGENTS TILL YOU FIND OUT WHAT YOU WANT.

ALSO GO INTO YOUR NEAREST REPUTABLE CAMERA SHOP AND ASK THE SAME QUESTION,
MARTIN.
