Question
Hi Malcolm,
I am in need of a lense for my Canon AE-1 programmer that would enable me to take detailed closeups of coins. I have no idea where to start and would appreciate it if you may be able to head me in the right direction. Thanks for your time.

Answer
Hi Gary,

I have a very similar camera and I think you'll find the AE-1 Program works very well for what you want to do.

For that camera you need a "Canon FD Lens" or a third-party (Tamron, etc.) lens that is made to fit Canon FD cameras.

To take closeups of coins, you need a lens that has a "MACRO" setting.

I would suggest shopping around camera stores and ebay for a CANON FD zoon lens (such as 70-210 mm) with MACRO setting.

hope this helps!

best,
Malcolm
