About Martin Seymour
Expertise
I have worked in most aspects of still photography, using film and the wet process for 50 years. Employing all film formats 35mm to 8x10 sizes, I went over partly to digital cameras in 02, also PC editing of pictures. I still find film work more demanding , as you have to get it right at the start with no auto settings on the camera to cover my mistakes. Pictorial work is my personal interest. Its is not a good idea for me to suggest a particular make of equipment just a type, and its uses.

Question
I have tons of developed pictures along with c.d.'s I had burned when the film was developed. I am now running out of space to store all this stuff. Recently I transfered all of our pictures to a few consolidated c.d.'s by year, and placed them in a fire-proof box. My question is.... I have been tempted to throw-away the original printed pictures along with the original c.d.'s. Is this crazy? Common sense says that now that all the pictures are consoildated, I no longer need printed pictures and individual c.d's, but I have a fear that for some reason I will need the original c.d.'s, pictures and negatives. What do you think?
Thx for your help.

Hi Monica
Join the club; this is what we all get at some time. Personally I never through any thing away but don't tell any one !!
Firstly what do you do with the CD's do you show them on the TV, they have to be in jpg format and you have to have a suitable CD player linked to your TV! This is a very convenient way to view your collection. I guess that you had them put on CD so that you could print them off at some time?

Also you may consider being more selective when taking the shots in the first place, improve your picture taking, become more photographic minded and not so snap happy there by cutting down on quantity.  You say that you have tons of developed pics and negs of course. The cheapest way to store small prints is to put them in flip up clear page type folder, back to back , rather then the old type album with corners etc they can be viewed very easily this way.

Sorry I can't help any more.
Martin
