AboutMartin Seymour Expertise I have worked in most aspects of still photography, using film and the wet process for 50 years. Employing all film formats 35mm to 8x10 sizes, I went over partly to digital cameras in 02, also PC editing of pictures.
I still find film work more demanding , as you have to get it right at the start with no auto settings on the camera to cover my mistakes.
Pictorial work is my personal interest.
Its is not a good idea for me to suggest a particular make of equipment just a type, and its uses.

HI Doug
Yes this is a problem when changing from film camera work over to digital; you will off course have carefully filed away all your old film negs. Then the best way to do this is to have a film scanner, and run the selected negs / transparencies through this and then on to you hard drive / cd. But these can cost a few hundred £. But for the quality it would be the better way.
The other way is to scan the selected prints with a flat bed scanner, which you may already have; you would be able to do at least 4-6 at a time. It's a bit slow but probably the cheapest! Only select the best shots to save time!
Some high street processors will put you processed film straight onto a cd, but I believe this is only when you fist have the new film processed, but ask to see if they will do it from old negs.
Also try a photo magazine look under services and find copy negs to CD etc
Hope this is clear.
Martin.
