Question
I use a Canon Elan 7N camera with a Canon L series
lens (24-70 2.8) to shoot small weddings; my former partner has the same lens.  I need to buy a lens for my new partner to use since she has only basic lenses.  Do you recommend that I buy another 24-70 or the new Canon 24-105 4.0 L lens?It has an image stabilizer which is a plus even though it is 4.0.  I have a 50mm 1.8; should I buy a 1.4?  Any suggestions on these or other lenses?  I am a teacher; this is only a part-time thing for me.  THANKS!
Do I need to uprgrade to the EOS 3 camera?

Answer
Edy,

Since you are shooting weddings, I wold recommend the 24-105, it will be much handier even though you lose a stop.  Check out some of the new longer-wider zooms.

It is not worth the money to upgrade to the 1.4, it is quite expensive.  Spend your money on a longer lens for close-ups. I find a 80-200 is a great lens for weddings. You can capture some great candids without intruding on people´s privacy.

Hope this helps..

Mark
