Question I plan on furthering my photo career. I've been shooting headshots and weddings for about 8 years now, but really wanted to get a website going to expand my business. What steps should I take in order to do so. And because of the website will I have to get a business license or not?
Answer A busniess license in not necessary. While a website certainly gets you more exposure, I believe it's word of mouth that expands a business.
If you have a friend who is a web guru, have them do your site. An amateur looking site is a greater detrement than no website. Get an idea of how you want to expand your business....more weddings and headshots or move into different areas??
If you must hire someone to build a website, be prepared to spend about $500. You can always get a student who loves web building to do it for the experience. Now, that's great to get the site, however, when you need it tweaked or you want to add more photos, that student may not be available or just be flaky.
