Question Hello,
In order for me to produce a sharp image when I hand hold a camera with 100 mm lens, what shutter speed would you recommend?
Last question; When using an SLR what is the function of the automatic diaphragm? Any help with these questions would be greatly appreciated. Regards-Skyler
Answer At least 1/125th of a second.
If you have a particularly steady hand, or can rest the camera against something to steady it, you may be able to get a sharp picture with 1/60 second.
If the object is moving or your hand is not particularly steady, you may need 1/250 second.
Not sure what you mean by "automatic diaphragm." Perhaps you have a camera with an automatic exposure function, where it selects the f-stop for you based on the shutter speed and the amount of light in the picture.
