Photography - Starting a Traveling Photography Business

Question
Hi ~ My sister and I have been throwing around the idea of starting our own photography business.  She takes amazing photos and I have a lot of experience w/Photoshop.  Our main focus would be children & family photography and we would travel to the customer's home.  Our pictures would be all digital.  We already have a small client base.  Do we need to acquire a license?  Are there any legal issues that we should be aware of?  Any advice would be great!

Answer
Jonelle,

Each state has its own rules about business licenses.  Go to your courthouse and ask them.

There are many legal issues to think about when running a small business.  Unfortunately this is the wrong place to ask about them.  You need to find an expert on small business.  I can suggest you get a book of legal forms for photographers.  I've seen them in large chain book stores.

John
