Subject: blue line on prints

Question
I have a Canon Ti Rebel, use all different speeds of 35 mm film. The developed pictures have a thin blue line across the top section. Is this a camera problem, or a developing problem? If it's the camera, what could be causing it?

Answer
It sounds like the camera is scratching the film.

Check your camera for a bit of sand that has become lodged in it along where the film travels. Use a can of compressed air to blow the entire film travel area clean. Check for sharp edges that might scratch the film.  Try taking it to a camera store, along with some of the pictures and negatives, and asking them to help you.

Good luck!

Malcolm
