Question Beyond just the darkroom vs. a computer, how do digital cameras and film cameras really contrast?
Answer Melissa,
Darkroom vs. a computer is a big contrast. The convenience, the power to manipulate images and share them instantly is a revolution.
High-end digital cameras approach a film camera for quality. Fujichrome 50, Kodachrome, and Tri-X are great products that produce images with unique qualities. But a digital camera enables a photographer to instantly have the correct ASA and light balance for a situation.
There are going to be tradeoffs but you've ultimately got to ask yourself what you want to accomplish with your photography and which tool is the most appropriate.
