Question Hey Steve, I would eventually like to be a professional sports photographer, but how do I get there? do I need to have a B.F.A in photography or is experience the ticket to success? I'm not going to get my degree in photography so will this hold me back in getting to be a sports photographer? Also, do these guys usually work for a team or just a newspaper?
thanks,
robert

I'd say go for the experience. There really aren't photography schools that teach sports photography.
A good starting place is a minor league sports team. hang out and take pictures and build a portfolio. Try to get to be theteam photographer. Offer shots to local newspapers and get a portfolio of published work.
Then strat knocking on doors with your portfolio (or a website)
