About Mikael Barnard
Expertise
Please note due to a large volume of questions to which I either cannot or do not wish to answer please be advised I will only answer questions pertaining to alternative photographic processes, questions in other areas of photography will be rejected. However, if it's information on alternative photographic processes you're after...!

Experience
I have both a GCSE and an A-level in photography and much experience with event photography, I now persue photography as a hobby.

Education/Credentials
GCSE photography-B, A.S. Level-C, A-Level-D - nothing wrong with my work, seems the exam board are pretty narrow minded when it comes to alternative photographic processes :-(

Photography - old black and white negatives

Expert: Mikael Barnard - 12/22/2006

Question
I have about 35 black and white negatives from the early 1900s. they are all in perfect condition. most are 2.5X3.5 in size, all though a couple are smaller. I would like to have them made into pitures. can you do this, and what would the cost be. None of the local photo shops seem not to be interested. I can have color 35mm slides made into pictures but not the black and white negatives. Please let me know. tom   south milwaukee wisconsin

Answer
Hello Tom. I would love to try and print them for you but I neither have access to a darkroom anymore (boy do I wish I did) and I live in the UK. I would guess the reason most places don't want to print them for you is they are a non-standard size, it needs an enlarger with an adjustable negative tray, neither of which the 'big' companies will have. My advice to you is to get hold of the local phone book and try and get hold of a small 'amateur' organization or try and find a local photographic society and ask the leader to ask the members. I do hope you find someone to help, sounds like a fascinating project. Best of luck and if I can be of any further help don't hesitate to ask: speenzman@hotmail.com. Best wishes.

Mikael Barnard.
