Question Hi,
I'm a junior in high school and I've been looking around at the different cameras. I'm stuck on what to buy that would work out in a variety of ways. I plan on attending a photography college of some sort (haven't really found anything though that looks like a fit) and I need a camera that I can use right now but will also be able to use in college. Your advice would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!
kelsey.
Answer Kelsey,
Well, you'll want some type of SLR. And it should probably be digital. A friend of mine was just accepted to Brooks Institute of Photography and he told me that they are pretty much doing away with 35mm film classes.
You should be able to get buy with just about any digital SLR. So what you buy would depend on how much you are willing to spend. I would suggest that you stick to either Nikon or Canon. Not because they are better cameras, but because they are much more popular so it will be easier to get accessories and support. The vast majority or pro's use Nikon or Canon. My friend is taking the Nikon D200 to school with him. And 3 out of 4 of us that work together all use that very camera. But it is a relatively expensive one. If you wanted more of a starter model, you could go with the Nikon D40 or D40x. The only difference between the two, (other than price) is the number of pixels. One is 6mp and the other is 10mp. You can get a D40 for about $600 with a lens. If you wanted a camera that is more advanced you should have a look at the D80. (These are all Nikon by the way).
You won't go wrong if you choose Canon. I just personally prefer Nikon.
