About Dave Nyce
Expertise
I have used SLR cameras for 30 years and have taught classes on photography at work for my co-workers. I had a darkroom for 20 years, but now am using mostly digital cameras. I can answer questions on equipment and techniques for photography, but am not an expert on specific model numbers of cameras or accessories.

Question
Can I use a microwave oven to dry some humidity that I found inside a 50mm professional lens ?

Answer
Sorry to say that a microwave is not good for that. There are metal parts in the lens that will overheat and melt plastic parts.

Use a regular oven to dry it. Set the oven so that the temperature control just barely clicks on, that will be a lower seting than "low". If you have a thermometer, it should come out to between 120 and 150 degrees F. Leave it in the oven for about five hours. That should do it.

Hope this helps!

Dave
