Question
Hi, Broke the fibula bone of my ankle 3 weeks ago skating. Had a temporary splint on for 10 days. Now Im in an ace wrap and walking boot. I was told to experiment with weight bearing. I can take a couple of steps with out any pain in my ankle but have tingling in my heal and toes. I think I could walk more with out any pain but I dont really feel stable enough to. My question is how long until I feet stable enough to walk and any suggestions on vitamins/ foods to eat that will help me heal faster.  Also when will range of motion return and what are so good exercises to aid in this.  Thanks

Answer
M-
Sorry to hear of your injury.  Your stability with walking should slowly improve, but there is no way for me to definitively give you a time frame as to how quickly / slowly this will happen.  Without actually evaluating your ankle, I am unable to provide any specific exercises as I do not know what your deficits are.  My recommendation is to ask your physician for an referral to see a physical therapist so you can be evaluated & provided with the appropriate exercises to help with your recovery.

Hope this helps!!
