Physical Rehabilitation Medicine - ultrasound

Expert: Jeffrey De Bellis, PT, MS, OCS - 10/26/2009

Question
Dear Sir,
Actually I wanted to know about ultrasound as I have a knee condition. In my country the therapists did it only 3 minutes maximum but now I'm in Europe and the therapist does it up to 10 minutes and I was worried. What is your advice ?

Sincerely,

Tom

Answer
Actually US is shoown to be effective is applied for three minutes and no more effective if applied longer.

Meaning you will get the same effect after three minutes as you would after 10,  and o be honest, not a ton of proof out there showing that it really works for what it is suggested tp do!

So don't worry!
