my health physics professor used a couple of different values for the biological half life of I131 (120 and 138 days) so either he made up values or there may be certain biological parameters taken into account. However to find the effective half life it's T1*T2/ (T1+T2)which for the values he gave me are 7.5 and 7.56 days respectively.
