Piano, Organ, and Keyboard - 5"2 Baldwin Howard

Expert: Ralph Onesti - 11/6/2009

Question
What is the value of a 1920-1930's Baldwin Howard that has been rebuilt inside w/ original ivory keys. Outside case needs to be refinished.

And, would you purchase the Howard over a 2004 Knabe in perfect condition?

Thank you so much for your help.

Answer
Hi Mary:

Before we even attempt going for a value here...you have to tell me what "rebuilt" means.

I'll need a list of what was done.

for instance, a complete rebuilding would include:

New action; hammers, shanks, whippens, back checks, etc.
New soundboard
New bridges
New pin block
New strings
Plate refinished
all hardware chrome plated

So where are we on this?
