Jarrett & Goudge, piano makers of Hackney, London; liquidated in 1938. The Jarrett and Goudge are believed to have been cousins.

One partner was James Alfred Jarrett (b 12 Nov 1811 in Bristol; married 13 June 1835 at St. Annís Soho London to Elizabeth Paget; died 9 July 1864 at St. Barts hospital). He began work as a cabinet maker but by 1851 was a pianoforte maker. Of his seven children (five sons, two daughters) three sons, William Richard (1840-1899), Richard William (1842- ) and Leonard Paget (1850-1914) joined the firm.

A descendant of Leonard believed that Richard Jarrett was also an accompanist for the opera singer Dame Adelini Patti. From 1887-88 he leased the building described as the Albion Road Baths Dalston.

William Richard Jarrett retired early to live at St. Leonards-on-Sea, Sussex his eldest son William Herbert (1870-1901) also joined the firm and at the time of his death (from TB and rheumatic fever) he was a journeyman pianoforte maker. He hadnít married so the Jarrett interest in the factory remained with Leonard and his descendants.

Jarrett & Goudge Ltd est 1870, Factory at The Triangle Hackney NE, Showrooms at 308 Mile End Road, 135 & 401 Mare Street Hackney and 51London Road Croydon as described in an advert of 1914.
