Hello Ralph, I am looking for a used piano. I would like to know what your opinion is about the piano in the photograph: Wurlitzer, Model 2860, Serial 166089, Dekalb-Illinois. The owner states it is valued at $1,250. The piano has had one owner only and it is in very good condition. It does need to be tuned. Thank you so much, Lourdes.

Hi Lourdes:

The serial number shown, if indeed 6 digits shows a date of 1937.

If the piano is viable, and by that I mean able to sustain service and playing, the asking price is OK.

It might be to your advantage to have it looked at by a registered technician just to be sure.

Many techs will look for a small service fee especially if you promise to use them for continued service.

You can go to http://www.ptg.org to locate a registered tech in your area.

Keep me posted.
