Piano, Organ, and Keyboard/D.W. Karn Co Piano

We have inherited a D.W. Karn Company piano with the house we purchased.  It is in good condition, but the wood is somewhat marked/scuffed and the bottom panel is bowed, but intact.  The only number I can find on it is on the left side of the strings - imbedded in the wood 5613.  The back inside says "D.W.Karn Co. Limited. Woodstock. Ont. Patent Scale."  All three pedals are in good shape and the sound board is intact. All the ivories appear original and in good shape. We are considering giving this piano to a family we know, but are unsure of the age and whether we would regret giving it up someday.  Would you be able to tell me the year that this piano was made?  We don't want to put any money into this, as we do not use it very much and I am told it probably needs a couple/few tunes.

Hi Allyson:

The piano was made in 1901.

No...we don't put any money into this piano...it's NOT cost effective.

Go to http://www.ptg.org for a registered tech to take care of it when you give it away.

Giving it to a family that will use it is a very generous thing to do!

I hoped that helped!
