Piano, Organ, and Keyboard/Mini demo Chickering organ_:)

Question
Hello! I was asked to sell what appears to be a demonstration mini organ. It's so cute! I have pictures of it. It is made by Chickering.. and has two pedals for the bellows?
I 'think' it was used by traveling salesman to demo the real thing. not sure though!
Everything else in their house is true vintage and they have many of the other portable keyboard organs, too. NOT the common kind.. they sort of look like what I know to be little cyliaples, but without pipes. (sp?)
If I can send you pics, I'd be happy to... I don't want the value of course.. just any info on them would be very much appreciated!! Thanks so much~~ Shirley

Answer
Hello Shirley,  I was not aware Chickering had sold reed organs.  However, because there were hundreds of reed organ manufacturers, it is possible Chickering arranged for a reed organ manufacturer to build organs with Chickering's name on them.  Because of the highly complex ancestral tree that has developed due to manufacture mergers, name snatching and product relabling, it is not always easy to determine who built what, where and for whom...especially when many of the arrangements were kept hush hush.

The best source for locating an answer would be to contact one of the Reed Organ Societies.  They have been amassing information on the hundreds of reed organ manufacturers for many years.  Hopefully they will be able to assist you:  http://eccs.onu.edu/~estell/organs/ros.html
