Piano, Organ, and Keyboard/Baldwin Howard - worth much?

We are trying to buy a piano as a wedding present from grandparents with approx. 600 to spend (equivalent to $910) and we have recently viewed an excellent condition Baldwin, Howard piano with a rough black veneer. It plays very nicely and we have been told the Baldwin is the piano of choice in America for those who are on a smaller budget.

We loved the sound of the little piano and didn't mind it's squat look too much, however he wanted to charge us 670 ($1016) and said we were getting a bargain as they often sell for 700-800 ($1050 - $1200)! Is this correct? We are worried we are paying too much, although we are not familiar with the make as it is not English? Any advice would be greatly appreciated! :)
Finally, we have been given the serial number of 909769 which I can't seem to find anywhere on the internet?

Many thanks in advance for your help!

The piano was made in 1969.

It is most likely a "spinet" style action.

Baldwin is not the choice of pianos in America for any reason.

And...I would NOT purchase the piano without a qualified technician looking at it first.

However, the most I would pay L495.00 to L540 as the top price.

good luck!
