Question
i have a henry f miller ivers and pond upright piano. serial number 96322. i would like to know the age. and as i have no knowledge of piano history i would like to know if there are any specific details to this piano and what type of piano is it. i believe it is a console. i just want to know my property.

Answer
HI Chrystal:

You piano was made in Memphis in 1960. By then it was owned by the Winter Piano company.

It is a generic vertical piano with no remarkable traits.

My guess is it bears no resemblance to the original Mill or Ponds design. I say that because it bears both names. Winter controlled both.

There a few ways to tell it's true configuration.

A console piano has the action sitting on top of the back of the keys, and a spinet has the action below the level of the keys and are generally shorter than a console.

If you give me the height of the piano, and maybe a picture of the inside...you can take that top, front panel off, I can tell you what it is.
