Question
I have a Yamaha Clavinova 205. The sound just recently stopped working. Everything else, display etc seems to be fine. Do you have any suggestions as to this problem? I did a Google search but was unable to find any help.

Thank you for assisting others with you experience!

Answer
Hello Jaye!  The first thing to check is the headphone jack to be certain nothing has been inserted into it.  Next, check whether sound can be heard through the headphone jack.  Because the headphone jack turns the main speakers off this is a good first thing to check.  Next unplug all but the power cord from the unit to determine whether anything external to the instrument is affecting its function.

Beyond that, the circuitry will need to be evaluated.  First the power supply will need to be checked, then the CPU.  You could have bad electrolytic capacitors, amplifier modules, regulators, etc.  All of which require an experienced technician to sort the problem out.

If you decide you do want assistance I suggest you check with the Music Instrument Technician Association at http://mitatechs.org/public_splash2
