Some of the ivory keys have biro ink on them.Is it possible to clean off the ink?Also,can you tell me how old the piano is?It was bought new by a family member at least two generations ago,all relevant paper work has long since been lost.I'm 76..Thank you for your time,

Hi Joe:

The piano was build in 1911.

Ivory and ink are a problem. Ivory is very porous!

It really depends on how far the ink got into the bone.

Here in my shop I would try bleaching first. If that didn't work, then sanding off the top layers. It's a bit of a job, but if the ivories are in good shape otherwise, it may be possible to get below the lever to which the ink sunk.
