Piano, Organ, and Keyboard/Technics SX EX 30L

Question
I'm a technician mostly specializing in Yamaha KB's. A customer asked me to have a look at a Technics XS EX-30L but before I have him lug it into my shop I would like to get the lay of the land.

She was told it needs a "hat" for 2 or 3 keys as these are inoperative. Not sure what these are. Can you help? Also how difficult is it to open up the unit and access the key contact strip?

regards, Phil

Answer
Hello Phil! I am traveling and need to make my response brief. I believe they are referring to a neoprene cup that houses the resistive pad. But to be certain, I suggest you contact mitatechs. This is the music instrument technician association. They deal with keyboards more often than I do.
