Question
Gentlemen, just purchased a Ridgewood Black Lacquer Baby Grand piano with serial # DC 01259. Can you find out when it was manfuctured or how old it is? Thanks in and advance for your assistance.

Answer
Hello Robert,  I am unfamiliar with the Ridgewood piano.  With nearly 14,000 piano names having come and gone over the years this is not unusual.  It was common for large piano retailers to contract with builders to produce pianos for them.  The retailers would place their own company name and logo on the fallboard, making the pianos difficult to track because the retailers would not consistently stay with the same builder.  Story and Clark is an example of this practice.  The other possibility is the piano was built outside the US such as in Canada.  I believe the following websites might be of help to you.
