Piano, Organ, and Keyboard/Size information

Question
Can you tell me the size and weight of a baby grand piano? If not, can you tell me who might be able to help me. It is a Duo-Art Weber piano. Thanks.

Answer
Hello Camille, Pianos vary a great deal in weight.  Yours, wih a player action can alter the weight of the piano considerably. Also, a "baby" grand can include several piano sizes. Unfortunately, there is no standard weight assigned to baby grands or any pianos for that matter. I suggest you contact the piano tuner's guild for this information at ptg.org. Hopefully, someone there with the experience of shipping such an instrument may be able to help. If you simply can't find a weight, you can try weighing each leg of the piano with a bathroom scale and add the three weights together to obtain an approximation.
